Duties/ Details

Responsibilities/Duties: Subject Area Tutors are needed to work with our Scholars to College students in a one-on-one setting in a variety of subjects, with the greatest need in math (Geometry, Algebra, Calculus, Statistics) and the sciences.  Volunteers in this role have an expertise in a subject area relevant to high school coursework and experience tutoring or teaching. Commitment is generally one day per week during after school hours for one hour, depending on student schedules.


 Qualifications: Though prior work or volunteer experience within educational settings is not required, a serious commitment to serving students at a high level is. We welcome volunteer tutors with varied and diverse backgrounds who are eager to make a difference in the lives of young people. 


Training: All volunteers will attend an orientation session to learn about the Emily K Center and our students, as well as to complete a background check and Code of Conduct form. Volunteers will have ongoing support from Emily K Center staff.
